Today we headed off to see the beautiful Cataratas Llanos de Cortéz waterfalls located in the province of Guanacaste. But to my amazement we stop at the roadside and pull into Cafe Mi Finca a small place with coffee, pastries, and of course banos spanish for bathrooms. As we head off to the side of the building I can hear the sound of the magnificent Scarlet Macaws. Up in the trees sits some beauties just waiting for their picture to be taken. They are so amazingly bright colored. I seem to be teased by on macaws as it flies right past me. I my surprise of course I’m not ready for that perfect photo opportunity that just presented itself. At least I get another attempt this time to video tape one of the birds as it flies to the fence nearby. Perfect as if it wants to be the center of attention. As I turn around one had flown down from the mango trees above and was sitting drinking the water from the ground.
Cafe Mi Finca, Guanacaste
As we continue on our journey to our destination Llanos de Cortez located in Bagaces, Guanacaste we have many views of farm land, trees out in bloom and a glympse of Irazu Volcano off in the distance. Stop and make a left turn, we are now headed down a very bumpy dirt road towards the waterfalls. Watch for the signs otherwise you’ll miss it.
Parking is pretty much anywhere you choose.
Llanos de Cortez Waterfall
This is a place were you need to wear your hiking shoes at least down the rocky pathway. But once you make it down you will be thrill with what you see! What a great location in the middle of nowhere. Families brought their children for the day. The water is deeper towards the waterfalls. The rocks are covered and very slippery to stand on so do be very careful.
A great adventurist day is shared. Thanks to tratursa.com. for providing a great tour as always.
